1. une alliance
Meaning: a ring, usually made of gold, worn to show that you are married
English: wedding ring
Example: Mon fiancé a oublié de porter l’alliance au mariage. (My fiance forgot to carry the wedding ring to the wedding.)
2. une épingle
Meaning: a decorative object, used as jewellery
English: pin
Example: Elle a mis une épingle décorative à son chapeau pour le mariage de sa sœur. (She put a decorative pin to her hat for her sister’s wedding.)
3. une barrette
Meaning: a small, decorative piece of plastic, metal, or wood that a woman or girl wears in her hair, often to stop it falling in front of her face
English: barrette
Example: Elle a récemment acheté une variété de barrettes. (She recently shopped for a variety of barrettes.)
4. un chapeau
Meaning: a covering for the head that is not part of a piece of clothing
English: hat
Example: N’oubliez pas de porter votre chapeau pour les vacances à la plage. (Don’t forget to carry your hat to the beach vacation.)
5. les faux bijoux
Meaning :accessories that are made using a variety of artificial materials
English: imitation jewellery
Example: Ma sœur préfère porter des faux bijoux. (My sister prefers wearing imitation jewellery.)
6. Une pince à cravate
Meaning : a small, thin, often decorative piece of metal worn across a tie to fasten it to a shirt
English: tie-clip
Example: Je voudrais une pince à cravate avec un petit diamant. (I’d like a tie clip with a small diamond.)
7. des gants (m)
Meaning: a piece of clothing that is worn on the hand and wrist for warmth or protection, with separate parts for each finger
English: gloves
Example: Le gant qu’elle aimait depuis des longtemps avait maintenant des trous. (The glove she liked since ages now had holes in them.)
8.un cache-nez
Meaning: a thick scarf
English: muffler
Example: Ma mère m’a demandé de porter un cache-nez lorsque l’air est froid la nuit. (My mother asked me to wear a muffler in the cold night air.)
9.un châle
Meaning : a large piece of cloth worn especially by women or girls over their shoulders and/or head
English: shawl
Example: Ma grand-mère tricote un châle pour le bébé. (My grandma’s knitting the baby a shawl.)
10.des lunettes de soleil
Meaning: dark glasses that you wear to protect your eyes from bright light from the sun
English: sunglasses
Example: Il va faire très beau, n’oubliez pas de porter vos lunettes de soleil.(It’s going to be very sunny, don’t forget to carry your sunglasses.)
11. un pendentif
Meaning : a piece of jewellery worn around the neck, consisting of a long chain with an object hanging from it, or the object itself
English: pendant
Example: Mon fiancé m’a offert un pendentif en diamant pour notre anniversaire. (My fiance gifted me a diamond pendant on our anniversary.)
12.un portefeuille
Meaning: a small folding case for carrying paper money, credit cards and other flat objects, that can be carried in a pocket and is used especially by men
English: wallet
Example: Il oublie souvent de prendre son portefeuille avec lui. (He usually forgets to carry his wallet anywhere.)
13. un ruban
Meaning: a long, narrow strip of material used to tie things together or as a decoration
English: ribbon
Example: Les filles portent généralement des rubans dans les cheveux pendant les jours d’école. (The girls usually wear ribbons in their hair during school days.)
14. une montre
Meaning: a small clock that is worn on a strap around the wrist or, sometimes, connected to a piece of clothing by a chain
English: watch
Example: Il porte généralement la montre que lui a offerte sa femme. (He usually wears the watch gifted to him by his wife.)
15. des moufles
Meaning: a type of glove with a single part for all the fingers and a separate part for the thumb
English: mittens
Example: Elle portait une moufle en cuir sur sa main gauche tandis que sa droite était nue. (She wore a leather mitten on her left hand while her right was bare.)
