Meaning: the space inside the neck down which food and air can go

English: throat

Meaning: a small tube-shaped part that is joined to the intestines on the right side of the body and has no use in humans

English: appendix

3. un intestin grêle

Meaning: the upper part of the bowels between the stomach and the large intestine

English: small intestine

4. un gros intestin

Meaning: the lower part of the bowels in which water is removed from digested food before it is passed out of the body as solid waste

English: large intestine 

Example:Le matériel qui reste non digéré et non absorbé passe dans le gros intestin. (The material that remains undigested and unabsorbed passes into the large intestine.)

5. un cerveau 

Meaning :the organ inside the head that controls thought, memory, feelings, and activity

English: brain

Example: Le cerveau humain est une merveille naturelle qui stupéfie l’esprit. (The human brain is a natural wonder that boggles the mind.)

6. un coeur

Meaning: the organ in your chest that sends the blood around your body

English: heart

Example: Comme les nerfs du cœur étaient bloqués, elle a dû subir une intervention chirurgicale. (As the nerves to the heart were blocked, she had to go through a surgery.)

7. un foie 

Meaning: a large organ in the body that cleans the blood and produces bile

English: liver

Example: Le plus grand organe du corps est le foie. ( The largest organ in the body is the liver.)

8. une langue

Meaning: the large, soft piece of flesh in the mouth that you can move, and is used for tasting, speaking

English: tongue

Example: Elle s’est accidentellement mordu la langue. (She accidently bit her own tongue.)

9. une moelle épinière

Meaning :the set of nerves inside the spine that connect the brain to other nerves in the body

English: spinal cord

Example: Sa moelle épinière a été blessée lorsqu’il est tombé. (His spinal cord was injured when he fell down.)

10. un muscle

Meaning: one of many tissues in the body that can tighten and relax to produce movement

English: muscle

Example:Elle a un muscle tendu dans le dos. (She has a strained muscle in her back.)

11. un pancréas

Meaning :an organ in the body that produces insulin and substances that help to digest food so that it can be used by the body

English: pancreas

Example: On lui a diagnostiqué un diabète où le pancréas a cessé de produire suffisamment d’insuline. (He was diagnosed with diabetes where the pancreas stopped producing enough insulin.)

12. un poumon

Meaning: either of the two organs in the chest with which people breathe

English: lung

Example: Le tabagisme a beaucoup endommagé ses poumons. (Smoking has damaged his lungs a lot.)  

13. un rein

Meaning: either of a pair of small organs in the body that take away waste matter from the blood to produce urine

English: kidney

Example:Elle a fait don d’un de ses reins à son fils. (She donated one of her kidneys to her son.) 

14. les amygdales

Meaning:the two small, soft organs at the back of the mouth

English: tonsils

Example: Elle a eu ses amygdales à l’âge de dix ans. (She had her tonsils out when she was ten.)

15. une artère

Meaning: one of the thick tubes that carry blood from the heart to other parts of the body

English: artery

Example:Le couteau a sectionné une artère et il a saigné à mort. (The knife severed an artery and he bled to death.)
